This has become a nightly ritual... dressing up as mushers. Even Alex loves to play with his dog, while everyone else plays with their. If you look at James' dog, you can see a blanket that James' knit. While Grandma D was here, she knitted away, and when Grandma Brown visited afterwards, James went on a knitting frenzy! He did a fantastic job too! So, now his sled dog has a coat.

We received a letter from one of the mushers that James wrote a letter to, so that was exciting. We followed him throughout the Iditarod, and it was fun to receive a letter from him. So, that sparked the love of mushing again. James' chair is his seat on the sled, and the sleeping bag and pillow were part of his sled. Inside the sleeping bag was a bowl for the dogs food, and the pillow was the large bag of dog food. The boys sure do have fun imagining. The picture of Glenn is when he put his dog in his sled becuase he was tired!

Well, I had my doctors appointment today. Nothing new. The baby is head down, but turned the wrong way. I told the doctor not to worry, because this baby moves so much, that I'm sure he'll flip the right way soon enough! And then he'll probably flip back again... oh what fun! I'm measuring right on schedule, and other than the swelling that makes me feel like a beached whale, we're doing alright! I'm getting anxious, though! Only 3 weeks 6 days to go! Yippee!
Take care!

For those of you who want to look up this place, it's:

Getting a group together would be great! You need 8 people to get a 10% discount, and I'd call ahead so they'd be ready for you. But I think I'd try to go on a nice day, too, so you can walk around ouside and enjoy thier gardens outside too... and bring a sack lunch or snack to eat!

Butterflies

I can't even remember what day it was now! It seems forever ago! It had to have been a couple of weeks ago, at least, we went to a butterfly house in Independence. It just opened up this year, and it's only 10 to 15 minutes from our house! The kids LOVED it. They had a back room full of pictures to color for the kids, and a butterfly wheel of their life cycle, that the kids could take home to study some more of what they learned. What a fantastic learning opportunity!
Then they took us to their butterfly house, where it was 80 degrees! It was maybe 55 outside, so when we got inside, we were all sweating buckets! Alex loved the butterflies, and was squeeling with excitement! And James and Glenn were quiet, so had the butterflies land on their hand. It was fantastic!
Then after that, they took us to the breeding rooms, and got to see all the different stages of the butterfly. It was quite fascinating! So, if anyone is interested, it's a great place to visit... I would recommend it. It is spendy to get in, so make sure you have time to enjoy it! They also have some beautiful gardens to enjoy... I can imagine it will be wonderful during the summer!
Other than that, James has started baseball, so we're busy hauling him around to baseball and karate. Oh, Glenn is so eager to fall in his footsteps! We told him he needs to be five, and he is so excited to turn 5! But it's going to be an old hat for him, cause he plays baseball, and practices karate as much as James!
Take care everyone, and I'll try to get caught up on a few more pictures soon!

I am NOT creative!!!!

FYI... I've been getting some responses on how creative our April Fool's Day dinner was. Well, for your information, and as someone remembered correctly, I subscribe to Family Fun Magazine. And I got the meatloaf pie idea from that! And the peas and carrots bit, I got from their website! Isn't it wonderful to have OTHER people who are so creative, and willing to share their ideas!? How grateful I am for those who share! Anyone looking for ideas for next year, just go to www.familyfun.com and they have a plethora of ideas! It's wonderful! And thanks to my sister, Amy, who got me started on Family Fun in the first place!

Procrastination....

Ever felt like you had so much to do, that you just start doing everything else that doesn't matter, in hopes that the stuff you need to do, goes away? :-) Well, the fact that I'm even blogging right now, is this state of mind exactly! And the pictures from our April Fool's Dinner will hit the nail on the head! We sure had fun with April Fool's Day this year! I made a backwards dinner, which was a great success.

I started off the meal, stating that we were going to do things backwards for dinner in lou of April Fool's Day... we would start with dessert, and end with dinner. So, the dessert ended up being a meatloaf pie with pink mash potatoes on top to look like yummy pink frosting. The kids LOVED it! Then we moved onto our main course dinner, which was mashed potatoes and gravy, with peas, corn, and carrots for our vegetables. Well, the mashed potatoes was a scoop of ice cream, gravy was caramel sauce. Then the veggies were starburts heated up a little, and formed into the shapes of veggies. It was a lot of fun, and we all look forward to what our meal will be next year!
James got into the joke making, and when Papa came home in his car, James ran over to him as fast as he could. He then went over to a tire, and told Todd that there was a bee on his tire.... Todd of course goes over to look closely, and he said he didn't see a bee. Then James gets a big smile on his face, and asks Todd what day it was!
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well! It's been a crazy week here, but we're doing our best to keep our head above water! One good thing, is I can tell the baby is a least turned the right way now! As long as he stays there, we're doing well! Ahhhhh.... only 6 more weeks!

Alex... so innocent!

So, the other day, it was about 5PM, and I wanted to check on Alex, cause he needed to start waking up soon. Well, I went into the bedroom, and had to take a double take. My first impression, was oh, he's still really sleeping! Then I looked up and noticed that he had some fun BEFORE he fell asleep, and apparantly was so tired from his coloring, that he was sleeping late! I thought it was even more comical, that if you look closely on the crate to the left, the evil marker is still sitting there... with the top on. So, I guess Alex was nice enough to put the cap back on! I was laughing with a friend this morning, on how a child can just be the sweetest little thing... and then turn like a flip of a switch. I thought this was a perfect example! Look at how sweet he is sleeping! But I'm sure he was smiling from ear to ear while coloring!
